EdTech & AI Indaba Zambia

I had the privilege of attending the Edtech & AI Indaba hosted by Edulution in collaboration with BongoHive Technology and Innovation Hub and I left deeply inspired.

The conversations weren’t just about technology ,they were about possibility ensuring that every Zambian, no matter how remote their location or current infrastructure, has access to quality education.

What stood out was the diversity in the room: policy makers, innovators, fintech leaders, banks, and most importantly, students. That is the formula for impact. Bridging the digital and financial divide requires intentional collaboration.

Kudos to Zamtel working with ZICTA to extend infrastructure into Zambia’s most remote areas so that every citizen can access the internet. Their mission is clear: opportunity for every Zambian.

Hon. Felix Mutati reminded us that technology must empower teachers to teach, not bury them in admin, and highlighted the rise of Smart Villages in places like Kalomo and St. Ignatius School(which I plan to visit soon) real examples of innovation shaping the future.

Owen Malambo emphasized a truth we often overlook: innovation begins with understanding people’s problems. That’s why Edtech is more than learning, it’s a catalyst for financial inclusion.

And for innovators ready to act, Absa Bank Zambia PLC innovation hubs are open to ideas that can transform Zambia.

I left with this conviction: Edtech and AI are not just tools they are bridges to knowledge, inclusion, and a future where no one is left behind.
